Elements: leather Linda Davy
9 January - 24 March 2012 Craft ACT :Craft and Design Centre, Canberra
Elements: leather, highlights artists, Linda Davy , Penny Amberg, Colin Lee and Judy Parker. Linda Davy draws on a variety of mediums to explore line, shadow, tone, structure, texture and tactility of the natural environment. Davy's early practice specialised in leatherwork, designing and making leather bags, sculpture and furniture with hand painted leather upholstery. Although Davy's contemporary practice focuses on clay and mixed media she will revisit leather for the exhibition.
NeTlines Nancy Tingey
21 January - 12 February 2012 Belconnen Arts Centre
Nancy Tingey's solo exhibition NeTlines will be exhibited at the Belconnen Arts Centre from 21 January to 12 February 2012. Tingey is currently researching netmaking and the use of flexible looping techniques to form containers. NeTlines features recently constructed textiles, works on paper and watermedia (made in collaboration with English papermaker Jackie Scammell) investigating the concepts relating to duality, division, trapping and travel.
2012 JUMP Recipient Alison Jackson
25 January - 25 December 2012 Canberra
Congratulations to Alison Jackson who has been selected to participate in 2012 JUMP- the national mentoring program for young and emerging artists. Alison will be mentored by silversmith Maike Dahl. With over seventy-five artists selected, this is the largest ever intake into an Australian artist mentoring program.

4 - 9 February 2012 Wangaratta Art Gallery
Valerie Kirk is 1 of 8 artists selected to exhibit her work at the Wangaratta Art Gallery this February. This exhibition presents the most recent works collected by the gallery as the permanent collection continues to take form. The gallery has a strong focus on textiles with works now being acquired through the Biennial Contemporary Textile Award.

Parallels Barbara Rogers
9 February - 24 March 2012 Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre, Canberra
Parallels is an installation of contemporary textiles by Barbara Rogers, exploring the diversity and language of the graphic stripe pattern. Rogers draws on her knowledge of shibori techniques combined with experimentation to build layers of colour and design and create unique effects on a single fabric layer.
3D Weaving And Learning To Weave Monique van Nieuwland
21 February - 21 March 2012 Australian National University, School of Art
Monique van Nieuwland will run a weaving workshop at the ANU School of Art over the course of 8 weeks from 21 February 2012. The course is suitable for beginners as well as intermediate weavers. Beginners will be introduced to the loom, fibers and 4 shaft weave structures. Intermediate weavers will explore several set-ups to create lush 3D-textures.

Design And Creativity Martine Peters

Martine Peters will run a textiles workshop at the ANU School of Art over the course of 13 weeks from 21 February 2012. This course on design and creativity will enable participants to turn their inspirations into new designs by learning design techniques, turning thinking inside out and growing creativity.

Harriet Schwarzrock will be exhibiting new works with Tevita Havea in the Osmosis exhibition, taking place at Kirra Galleries, Melbourne.
Material World Ruth Hingston
28 March - 8 April 2012 Australian National Capital Artists, Canberra
Ruth Hingston will be exhibiting in a group exhibition titled Material World at ANCA. This exhibition will feature site specific installations in the gallery and surrounds, exploring environmentalism through the use of recycled and found materials. The exhibition will be curated by Martine Peters and Narelle Phillips.
