2012 JUMP Recipient     Alison Jackson

Congratulations to Alison Jackson who has been selected as one of seven ACT artists to participate in 2012 JUMP- the Australia Council's national mentoring program for young and emerging artists. Alison will be mentored by German silversmith Maike Dahl. With over seventy-five artists selected, this is the largest ever intake into an Australian artist mentoring program.

'This Planet We Share' - the Birrigai Mosaic     Linda Davy
18 April - 18 May 2012     Birrigai, Tidbinbilla Road, Tharwa

Linda Davy was involved in the collaborative project This Planet We Share, which saw schools and artists create a 50 metre long mosaic representing the geological history of the earth, as imagined by students of the ACT. It was officially opened by the Minister for Education and Training, Dr Chris Burke, MLA on 2 April 2012.

International purchase     Barbara Rogers
18 April - 18 May 2012     Hong Kong Design Institute, Hong Kong

Congratulations to Barbara Rogers, whose work Black Magic has been purchased by Hong Kong Design Institute for their Fashion Archive as a result of the 8th ISS in Hong Kong. Black Magic was exhibited in the WEARABLE ART; Draped, Shaped, Flow and Shadow exhibition.

What Still Remains     Annie Trevillian

Annie Trevillian's ephemeral artwork Remnants: the layering of time, memory and place in a landscape encompassing family and community will appear at the Valley Ruins heritage site on Wednesday 18 April, Thursday 19 April and Saturday 28 April 2012.

Program of events:

  • 8am-4pm, Wednesday 18 April: Viewing of artwork at the Valley Ruins
  • 8am-4pm, Thursday 19 April: Viewing of artwork at the Valley Ruins
  • 11am-noon, Thursday 19 April: Talk by Annie Trevillian and archaeologist Dr Peter Dowling at the Valley Ruins. RSVP to Nigel Featherstone at the ACT Heritage Unit on 02 6207 0893
  • 10-4pm, Thursday 26 April: Drop-in Day at Megalo Print Studio and Gallery where you can print you own Valley Ruin memento handkerchief.
