In association with the Festival of Contemporary Art, Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre in partnership with Tuggeranong Art Centre Gallery presents Found in Public curated by Craft ACT curatorial intern Alicia Kane. An exhibition exploring the vast variety of found objects and materials in the public realm that have been transformed under the hand of the artist.
Found in Public presents the work of Erin Duffield, Joanna Lees, Ann McMahon, Megan Munro and Elizabeth Paterson. Each artist works with found materials as a part of their practice. The exhibition focuses on found objects such as wood plastic, glass and paper, and how these materials can be used as a form of artistic expression. The works present another view towards recycling and the use of the discarded as inspiration, and are a response to the theme of this years Festival of Contemporary Art: In Public.
Craft ACT is supported by the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, an initiative of the Australian Government and all state and territory governments, and also gratefully acknowledges the financial assistance it receives from the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian government's arts advisory body.
