A touring exhibition from Design Centre - Tasmania
3 April to 18 May 2008
Tidal Zone showcases contemporary object design from Tasmania. Having premiered at the Design Centre - Tasmania in 2007, showing at Craft ACT: Craft and Design Centre 3 April - 18 May 2008.
Tidal Zone draws upon the talents of the Tasmanian Furniture Designers Association, exhibiting exciting and innovative objects from sculptural to practical that explore the space on the edge of an island.
The 'tidal Zone' is the space where the land and sea meet, an 'edge' that delineates an island's geographical space. But this is also a shifting space in which discarded, found and natural materials are collected and combined. The 'tidal zone' is a locus for disruption, unusual juxtapositions, change and new creation, themes that are cleverly expressed in this exhibition.
