Sydney textile artist Beth Hatton and Canberra painter Christine James create works inspired by Weereewa/Lake George; identifying with the significance it holds for local indigenous communities and subsequent settler populations.
Complimenting the exhibition is Baselines: colonisation and conservation, a one day forum that will provide an opportunity to explore the possibilities that art and artists can bring to expand and enhance our experiences of unique environments and their conservation. Friday 15 August. For more information contact Diana Hare (02) 6262 9333.
As part of VIVID, the National Photography Festival, Craft ACT presents an exhibition by Caroline Huf. She records the sequential process of creation using still photographs to produce stop motion animated video. The works that appear in both the film and gallery space include objects woven from discarded packaging, and hand-modelled plasticine forms.

In partnership with the Canberra Potters' Society (CPS), Craft ACT awards an annual showcase exhibition to an outstanding practitioner selected from the Society's annual member's exhibition. In 2008 the Craft ACT CPS Award went to Joanne Searle who is developing new work based around the concept of an egg as an uninterrupted form.

Ruth Parry presents new work based on the brooch and its intersection with the notion of commemoration. Through the combination of precious silver, paper and insect imagery, Parry creates contemporary talismans for the discerning wearer.

Vanessa Samuels presents a collection of wearable resin jewellery focusing on layering, stacking, repetition and morphing. Her playful work explores graduating tones and cast shadows.
